Lax for the Cure

Emmy and her Capital team played in Lax for the Cure this weekend in Princeton. It was a great tournament with some really tough competition. The girls did great - they all wore AC on their arms for Amanda. I think her fighting spirit was with them throughout the weekend.

Emmy tried out for the DC UA All American Team today in the pouring rain! Keeping our fingers crossed!!

A trip to NC

 We were not able to go to Amanda's celebration of life last weekend because of Emmy's state title game so we went to see Justin and the kids this weekend. We stayed at their friends' lake cabin and didn't see them all that much but it was good to be there. Things feel very strange and sad right now.

The last day of school 2022

Today was the last day of school for Declan and the last day of 3rd grade! Emmy finished up her freshman year and Aoife finished 7th grade this week as well - Aidan's last day of his Junior year was a few days ago! 

What a crazy year it's been. Hard to believe that these kids completed most of their school year in masks and only really saw their teacher's faces during the last few months. They even had friends who they barely saw without a mask until the end of the year. Everyone has really really done so well - it's hard to imagine the strain that these kids have been under for the past two years and they have been expected to academically perform like life was normal. I'm glad that this year is over and that we will get a good summer reset. Next year will come quickly - this summer is jam packed and Brendan will be in Alabama for flight training the entire time - but I'm looking forward to having a more normal year in the fall!

Emmy and Aoife''s last day of school

 Woohoo! Emmy and Aoife's last day of school was today - I didn't get a picture of Aoife but I did manage to snap one of Emmy before she headed out to her last day and last final exam as a freshman!

Emmy is 15!!

 Happy Birthday Emmy!!! Today is a big day!!! We love you so much and are so proud of the woman you are becoming. We can't wait to see what amazing things are in store for you this year - a State title is tough to top!!

A little walk down memory lane:

Yorktown Wins it ALL!

An amazing culmination to an incredible season. These girls brought it home and finished 19-4 with a Liberty District Championship and a Virginia State Title - the first in Yorktown's history! The game itself ended up being pretty lopsided with the score being 18-8 at the end and with Yorktown leading by a considerable margin the entire game. But - what a way to end the season - I don't think my heart could have taken another game like the semifinal against Langley!  

How far they have come this season - playing 23 games plus scrimmages and outscoring their opponents 306-181. We will miss our three seniors - all amazing contributors to the team - but the future looks bright! 

 

Aidan's last day of Junior Year

Today is Aidan's last day as a Junior! I can't believe that I will have a Senior in the fall - it seems nearly impossible. We moved into our house when Aidan was going into 4th grade - the same age Declan is now - and here he is - in his last year in High School.

Brendan's graduation from the War College

 It's been a year of a lot of hard work for Brendan and it's over! Congratulations to the War College's newest graduate!!
