Paris

We are in Paris!! Brendan and I have been VERY pleasantly surprised by this wonderful city. Honestly, we were anticipating just seeing the highlights and getting out of town to EuroDisney. Now I wish we had more time. The city is amazing! Gorgeous architecture, wide avenues, flowers everywhere, delicious food and friendly people!
We took the Chunnel over this morning and arrived in Paris after lunch. We stopped to drop our luggage off at the hotel and went to the Louvre since it is closed tomorrow! I'm so glad that we made the trip - I could have spent weeks in there. It was amazing - every time you turned a corner there was another room with a gorgeous painted ceiling full of priceless artifacts. We spent a lot of time in the Italian painting section and the Greek and Roman art area. We saw my favorite sculpture of all time - the Winged Victory of Samothrace. She was so much bigger than I thought she would be! We also saw the Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa - both also amazing. It was so nice to be in a museum that allows photography!! Here are some pictures - they are out of order but I'll give you captions!

Tomorrow we're hoping to hit the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe - hopefully some others too!

  1. I have to live vicariously through you for now. So exciting to read that the Nike of Samothroce is as impressive as it seems in pictures. Can you tell I love Greek art? :)
