Here is a picture I took today of Aidan's Garden. The tomatoes are
doing well - growing like crazy! There are lots of flowers and even one
little tomato! We also have a large rose bush that is blooming -
thought they were beautiful today in the sun.

Memorial Day Weekend
We had a really nice, relaxing Memorial Day weekend. The weather here
was beautiful - it was actually HOT today! Aidan got a new - bigger -
bike this weekend. He had outgrown the one he got last summer just
after Emmy was born. He has grown almost 6 inches this year - the old
bike was way too small!We
went to the pool today for the first time. Emmy really seemed to like
it although the sunscreen I bought was evidently not waterproof nor tear
free - despite it's claims to the contrary. I bought a different kind
tonight - hopefully we won't have swollen eyes next time we go! We let
Emmy have a long morning nap and went to the pool after lunch. Aidan
ran around and "swam" for about 2 hours. He fell asleep in the car on
the way home! We got home and he said "I'm so tired. I don't want to
eat dinner - I just want to go to bed." Although he ate a big dinner, I
thought he was going to fall asleep at the table. On the up side -
both Aidan and Emmy were in bed at 7 pm!

A Trip to Huntley Meadows
Aidan's class had gone to Huntley Meadows
on a field trip a few weeks ago but I couldn't go with them because
Emmy couldn't go :( This morning we got up and out of the house early
and went over - it was really nice - and empty! We saw ducks:geese:red winged black birds:flowers:and even a muskrat!!It
was a perfect day - 68 degrees, sunny, dry, NO bugs! I think it would
be pretty buggy later in the summer so I'm glad we got to see it today!

Aidan's Last Day of Preschool
Today is Aidan's last day of preschool for the year! I can't believe
how much he has changed since September. He has grown up in so many
ways and become an independent little guy with a kind and loving
personality. OK, a little stubborn too...
Here is Aidan today - May 22, 2008Here he was on September 13, 2007

Emmy's First Word
Emmy
has been babbling a lot recently but yesterday she said her first word -
duck! Not one that you would find in a pond but the character that she
is holding from Word World.
She has been saying it over and over - so proud of herself for
figuring out how to communicate! I have a feeling that it won't be long
until we won't be able to get a word in edgewise!
On another note - Aidan surprises me on a daily basis. Yesterday he wanted to play with playdoh after lunch which was fine because I was going to put Emmy down for a nap. After a few minutes I heard him get up from the table and go downstairs to the family room. I came down to the dining room and the table was clean - the playdoh was away and all the toys were in the playdoh bag, it was zipped and on the shelf. I thought - hmm...I must be losing it, I really thought I had let him play with playdoh. I found Aidan downstairs on the couch looking at a book. I asked him, "Did you clean up the playdoh?" He hesitated and said yes. I couldn't believe it. I didn't ask him to clean up - he did it all by himself! He then said, "Are you so proud of me?" Yes - all the time.

The Many Faces of Emmy
Here are a few pictures of Emmy from the past few days. She has had
some big changes - she figured out how to use the sippy cup and drink
water by herself, she can go up stairs, and she has refused all spoonfed
food - I guess we are into the fingerfood stage!!making a HUGE mess with corn puddingup we go!Emmy pulled the powdered sugar out of the pantry onto her head - not too happy about it!This is what you get to play with if you have an older brother.and here's one of Aidan - just for good measure!

It has been raining since Thursday; hard, steady rain that has flooded
our backyard and infiltrated the basement carpet - thank goodness we're
renting :) I guess the only thing it's good for is the garden and the
lawn - here is a picture of Aidan in front of the tomato plants on April
22ndand here is a picture in front of the same plants on May 9They even have flowers on them already!! Maybe we'll get some fruit by the end of June!

The Crayola Factory
We had a great time at the Crayola Factory/Museum in Easton, PA. It is
really just a big room with lots of crayola activities with lots of room
to run around! Here Brendan and Aidan are using the window markers:
Fun with glue sticks:
Emmy level activities:Aidan has gotten very good at spelling his name...
A new use for recycled tires - lots and lots of little rubber pellets:
