COVID-19 Memorial

Today on my way back from some showings in DC I stopped by the COVID-19 Memorial by the Washington Monument. It was quite a sight - so many flags. 

 

Another W for the Murder Hornets

Aoife's Field hockey team has been doing great! Today was another win - they are undefeated so far! It was a beautiful day and they had so much fun!

 

Manassas Trip

 Today we went to the Manassas Battlefield with Brendan's class for a tour. It was awesome and we learned so much! So great to get out and get some fresh air too!

Declan's 9th Birthday!

 Happy Birthday Declan!! This year was a sort of strange celebration with no kitchen! He opened presents in the morning before school with everyone - who were so nice to wake up early! After school we went to Emmy's FH game and then to dinner at Uncle Julio's. Dessert was the chocolate piñata! I don't think we've had a birthday without a chocolate birthday cake - it was weird BUT we will make one as soon as well can be in the kitchen again!

Brendan's promotion to Colonel

Today Brendan was promoted to Colonel by General McConville. We had a lovely ceremony at the Pentagon and then held a party at the house. We had a taco truck and the Pat McGee Band played! It was so much fun!!

So much progress on the kitchen renovation!!  Next up - cabinets!!

 

Potomac vs. JPTG

Big day today! Potomac had their first win of the season over John Paul the Great! It was an exciting and fun game to watch as all of their hard work over the last year and a half came together.  Aidan played well and is really a force on the offense!

 

Aidan's First Day

Today was Aidan's first day of school - finally!!! He's a Junior this year - with a license - driving himself to school. I can really barely handle it - how did this happen so quickly?? I think they are going to have a great year!!!

 

Potomac vs. Norfolk Academy

Potomac had their very first Varsity Football game today!!  It was so exciting and everyone was so happy to be back! The weather was perfect - a gorgeous fall day in Virginia. Aidan played really well at tight end and Ella was there with us to cheer him on! Last year they had a handful of games in the winter but we couldn't watch them in person - they were streamed and it was really hard to tell what was happening. After all this time it was a little emotional to be able to return to a bit of normalcy. You could forget about everything over the past year and a half for a few hours and just enjoy being together and watching the boys play!
