First Day of School

Today is the first day of school for Arlington! Aoife was out of the door first and then Emmy and Declan. Everyone was super ready and very excited! And because there has to be one hiccup - Declan thought, for some reason, that I was picking him up at school so he didn't get on the bus!! Thankfully his friend's mom saw him, knew something was wrong and brought him home. I'm sure that tomorrow will be a bit smoother - the first day can be a lot of nerves all the way around!

 

Potomac Varsity Scrimmage at Landon

What a great day to be a Panther! Potomac had a scrimmage at Landon with both BOC and Landon. There were some rain delays but they did eventually get to play quite a bit and they looked pretty good. It was so exciting to be back on the field. Everyone was in such a great mood and it was awesome to see so many Potomac parents that we hadn't seen in months!

 

Jamestown Open House

We had Declan's 3rd Grade open house today at Jamestown. He got to see his classroom, find his locker and meet his teacher! He has so many friends in his class - I'm so happy and relieved!!  It's hard to think that this little guy is big enough to be in 3rd grade but here we are! We stopped on the way home and got a haircut and then picked up donuts for everyone. Fingers crossed that this is a great year!! So many feelings about it - it's going to be tough to be alone in the house after a year and a half. 

 

Back to School Shopping

We had to do a little back to school shopping to get everyone all set for their first days. Declan was such a good sport but it's pretty exhausting!  

 

Decoupaged Oyster Shells

Aoife and I have found a new art project this summer! We saw decoupaged oyster shells for sale in Cape Charles and thought that it might be fun to try. It's SUPER fun and the results are beautiful! Let us know if you'd like to place an order!

 

High School Tour Day!

Today Emmy got to go on a tour of the school ahead of the first day! So exciting but I also got a bit of a taste of what having a kid in non-private high school is like. No parents!! Potomac includes parents in nearly everything and Yorktown is quite the opposite. It definitely was a little sad but I waited for Emmy and her friends and then took them over to have lunch - helped the sting a bit. :( 

 

First JV Field Hockey Scrimmage

Emmy's team had their first scrimmage today and it POURED - it literally rained so hard that we could barely see the field! The girls were soaked to the skin in about 30 seconds but they played through and seemed to have a good time! It's going to be a fun fall!!

 

Aidan has his license!

Aidan got his license a few weeks ago! It's been both terrifying and convenient at the same time. We were able to get another car for the family. I can't believe that we are here - it feels like we skipped a year somehow!

 

The Under Armor All American Tournament

 A few weeks ago Emmy tried out for the Under Armour All American DC Team and she was selected! This weekend, all of the teams from all over the country came to Maryland and competed in the tournament. Emmy did great and her team did pretty well overall. There were a few close games that should have gone their way. The good part about being seeded lower at the end was that their last game was awesome and they won 14-4! What a great way to finish up the weekend! We are so proud of her - what a HUGE accomplishment. In addition to this - she also made the top team on Capitol Lacrosse  which is the premier girls travel lacrosse team in the area. She is doing so awesome - all that hard work is really paying off!
