Apple Picking - Homestead Farm, MD

Aoife and I went apple picking today! It was a gorgeous day and we tried a new farm in Poolesville, MD called Homestead Farm.  It was really great! Easy parking and beautiful rows of trees! There was even a huge area of blackberries and we picked about half a bucket's worth!
There was a cute farm store that sold vegetables and other farm items! We bought corn, honey from the orchard and a caramel apple - which was eaten before I could get a photo! There are still plenty of apples and some weren't even ready to be picked! Looks like at least another month of picking!

Holy Cross Drop Off

The day we have been looking forward to for the past two years is finally here. We got Emmy all set up in her new home for the next 10 months. Holy Cross did an amazing job with move in! We had an early slot and I think we may have been the second car on campus! As we pulled up, students pulled all of Emmy's things out of the car and brought them down to her room as she checked in and got her door code! We got her moved in and unpacked within 2 hours - just in time for her roommate to get there. We left on a Target and lunch run so they could get settled. The girls got their IDs and we picked up a few more necessities in the bookstore. Once the room was complete, we grabbed some coffee and sat around the campus center for a while.
It was definitely hard to drive away - more for me than her, I'm sure. We will miss her energy and chattiness around the house and I'll really miss her willingness to always help out and watch old episodes of Survivor! We know she is where she is supposed to be - change is just hard.
