Well - I don't have any pictures today - we just went to the park again. It was sunny but cool and breezy. The blackberries are coming in and our fingers are red from picking and eating them on the way to and from the park!
Our stuff is in country! Yeah! We sent two shipments - one called "hold baggage" (for some unknown reason) was supposed to take only 4 weeks. It should have been here two weeks ago. It didn't get sent from the states until 2 days after it was supposed to be here - no problem - just all our clothes, computer, CRIB!, crib bedding, bikes, some toys and kitchen stuff - ack! The other shipment called "household goods" for obvious reasons was supposed to take 6 weeks - it will be here Monday - before the hold baggage. Ugh. Anyway I was thinking how much I was looking forward to having all of our stuff - until they told me it was coming. There is something really nice about having a basically empty house. The only thing that I would like to have is more toys - OK and maybe more clothes too - OK the tempurpedic mattress too! We have an entire moving truck of stuff coming - half of the house went to storage for the year. Do we really need all this stuff?? As I'm writing this I'm thinking about all of the stuff that I will be happy to have - scrapbooking stuff, baking stuff and all my cookbooks - maybe I do need more than I think. It has been nice to realize how much less we could live with.
The car will be here Thursday - not sure when we can pick it up but hopefully it will be Friday!! We had a rental car for the first 3 weeks we were here - that cost us a lot but it was worth it. We turned it in last weekend so I have been carless this week. Liberating - we have a market within a short walk - 5 minutes - 15 with the kids. I can get everything I need there to hold us until I can make it back to the grocery store. I have been making bread by hand - mixer will arrive with household goods - to go with dinner every night. So nice - just takes a little thinking ahead and since we can't go anywhere far there seems to be plenty of time in the day for these things! I'm sure that life will return to normal once school starts for everyone but it is nice to take things a little slower for now.

I hear you about too much stuff. We took minimal things to AL for a few months and I've still not finished unpacking here in WA. I have a huge "sell" pile in the garage too.
yes - we have the sell pile in the garage too! It's amazing how stuff accumulates and how you can live with SO much less! Our friends lived in England for a year and it sounds as though they had a very similar experience - no car, walked to the market, hung laundry to dry. The simple life is very alluring!
