Our New Addition

On Friday Aidan caught a ladybug and put it in a cup in the backyard. He spent about 20 minutes sitting on the grass outside talking to it and picking grass to put in the cup so the ladybug could make a bed. If you know Aidan, you know that he emotionally connects to things/people very quickly - he even has a strong bond with the vacuum cleaner - honest! He came in to get a glass of water and when he went back outside the ladybug had flown off - he was devastated. The gasping and hysterical crying got to Brendan I guess because they got in the car to go to the local version of Petsmart - Pets at Home. The intention was to get a goldfish but the local tap water is not conducive to goldfish actually staying alive so they ended up with a Syrian hamster. It's a baby now but will grow to about 7 inches long. They are supposed to be docile by nature and it seems to be awake during the day enough to keep the kids happy. Aidan has named him/her Squishy - if you've seen Finding Nemo you'll probably know why.
