The past few days have been the kind that leave you exhausted and wanting to lie down on the floor and go to sleep at 6 pm. Unfortunately, that is really not a good option because no one else in this house seems to be able to put themselves to bed. So I slog through bedtime, cheerfully brushing teeth and hair, reading and being read to, tucking in and giving kisses. Then at 8:45 when everyone is all snuggly in bed (except me!) I begin the cleaning up process or the folding laundry process or the doing paperwork for work so everyone gets paid process. Now it's 11 pm and I fall into bed and the baby wakes up at 11:45. It's a good thing he's cute.
Bottom line - my house is constantly messy and I can't get ahead of it. There just doesn't seem to be enough time. Aoife and I visited one of her friends from school for a lunch playdate today and her house was SPOTLESS. I mean I don't think my house has EVER been that clean. I need to get organized - but WHEN???

Oh my goodness, you're already doing EVERYTHING! Give yourself a break! You're amazing and a kickass mom, and you're an inspiration to us all. Especially the part about taking care of four kids and work and not quite having time to clean. I hope you get to sleep soon! HUGS!
Becky, don't beat yourself up. I have 2 kids and can barely keep up. I can't imagine what it's like with 4 and a deployed husband. Just remember, you are creating memories of a happy childhood for your kids and they will never remember what the house looked like. Hugs to you! I love catching up on your blog. And that sweet baby boy of yours is just adorable. They all are!
