Happy Halloween

Tonight was the big night! We went over to Will's house to trick or treat because they live in a nice quiet neighborhood with sidewalks! It was a nice night - low 60's - much different from the snowstorms of CO or the freezing cold Halloweens of my childhood. The kids were great and the big surprise of the night was how much Emmy LOVED trick or treating. Somehow she knew from the moment I handed her the treat bag that this was going to be good. She loved the chem lights that Brendan brought over and she walked all on her own to some of the houses. She was even saying "Happy Halloween" and "Trick or Treat" by the end of the night. All the kids heading out:Emmy couldn't get enough of getting her picture taken:Loving the chem lights:Venturing out all on her own:Aidan, Will and Will's friend, Sean:The boys with Will's sister, Maggie:Trick or Treating - notice Emmy is right up there!

Halloween Preview

We had the Halloween Party at Aidan's school this afternoon and I thought I would post some pictures of their costumes - too cute! Emmy is a bee and Aidan is a skeleton although it got cold and he had to turn into a firefighter! Emmy was pretty bothered by her wings for a while but once I told her that they were wings she walked around displaying them proudly. The only problem was her shoes - they are so cute but they don't stay on her feet and she got very upset every time one (or both) fell off. I'm going to have to get her some real black shoes tomorrow before we go trick or treating!

My Handsome Boys

On Sunday night Brendan took Aidan to the Soldier's Show in DC. Aidan had to dress up and it was the first time he had to wear a tie. He was so cute and really proud of how nice he looked. I had really wanted to go with them but since I am still fighting a cold and Emmy hasn't been going to sleep well, I thought I would stay home. I did feel a little left out but Aidan had so much fun just being out with Daddy that I guess I was OK with it in the end.

It's Official

We are moving to England - in July 2009. Brendan's next station will be at Shrivenham, England getting his master's from King's College through the Army exchange program and the UK ILE (intermediate leadership something - who can keep all these acronyms straight!) And that's right - for all of you who are counting months - we will be moving with a 2 (ish) month old - again! The last time we did it Aidan was our only kid - and we didn't have a trans Atlantic flight to deal with! Are we crazy?? uh - yeah probably more than I even realize...

The Kids are Sick

The kids both have croup! It has been awful and Emmy has gotten it worse than Aidan - although last night his breathing was so scary that I got up every half hour to make sure he was still alive. I have Emmy hooked back up to the movement monitor - I know I am crazy but I can't sleep if I think one of them is choking to death on mucus. Aidan seems to have turned a corner tonight and is doing better but Emmy is still having lots of trouble. Part - OK most - of the problem is that she can't blow her nose. Yuck - fun times - can't wait for REAL sick season to start!

Apple Picking In Massachusetts

We went up to MA for Brendan's cousin's wedding on Saturday. It was a quick trip - just a few days - but we got to enjoy some traditional New England fall activities. It was a little chilly so Aidan wore his favorite new item of clothing - new gloves! We found out that Emmy LOVES apples :It was cold but she wouldn't put the apple down! They really do love each other!

Bubble Bath

Aidan and Emmy had a great time in the bath tonight. I thought I would share this cute picture. They are really starting to look a lot alike!!

Here We Go Again!!

For all of you who guessed it - you were right!! The reason I haven't been posting is because I've been sick and here's the reason:The baby is 10 weeks and 5 days old - due on May 2nd!!! The dotted line shows where the spine is - head on on the right and bottom is on the left. He/she really started moving a lot during the ultrasound and it was amazing to see all that movement so early.
I have started feeling better during the day - nights are still really tough but at least I can function without a 3 hour nap in the afternoon!! I'll keep you all posted with any baby news and we'll be able to find out if it's a boy or a girl in the middle of December - what a great Christmas present!!

Aidan's Art Project

Yesterday at the farmer's market there was a woman who was doing an art project with this bench and another one that said "for" and was blue. Although Aidan was "for" chameleons, he wanted to sit on the red bench because it matched his shirt. She sent me this picture that is going to be in her show. Too cute!!
