Emmy's in Class Play

 There are so many things going on at the end of the school year!  Today Emmy's class had a little in-class performance to finish off their science unit about rocks and the Earth.  It was cute and it's nice to get to be in the classroom.  I haven't spent as much time in the school this year as I wanted and one of my goals for next year is to spend at least once morning each month in Emmy and Aoife's classes and to figure out how to get involved at the middle school!!

Aidan's 5th Grade Promotion

 Aidan has been promoted from 5th grade into Middle School!!  Taylor Elementary had their promotion ceremony tonight and it was great!  The kids all sang a few songs and then each student was announced and walked across the stage to receive a certificate from the Principal and Vice Principal.  It went quickly and was very efficient!!  Afterwards, we all moved upstairs to the cafeteria for snacks and to watch the slideshow.  The kids had a great time and loved that they were allowed to run around outside and play with their friends.  Middle School in the fall - how can I be old enough to have a middle schooler????

Taylor Elementary - 5th Grade Greek Parade

 One of the fun events that the 5th grade does at the end of the year is the Greek Parade.  Each student gets to chose who they would like to dress up as - God, Goddess, hero, monster etc - from Greek mythology and then they proceed out of the school, are announced and then parade around for all of the other students to see.  Aidan choose to be Prometheus and even had an eagle pinned to him that was pecking out his liver!  Super cute (??) - Anyway - everyone had a great time and it was a beautiful Virginia summer afternoon.  Emmy (and 30 of her friends) were pretty happy to be able to stand with me while I took pictures of everyone for the 5th grade slideshow.  Declan was not impressed and played by himself on the playground during the entire parade.

Declan's Last Day of Preschool

Today was Declan's last day of Preschool with the Happy Apples!  Of course I (by mistake) had him wear the same shirt as he wore on the first day of school and it was a little bit small!  Ooops!! Anyway, I managed to get one picture of Declan smiling on the way into school - after taking about 20 of various crazy faces - and then we got to watch the classes sing some songs before we went to the church hall for cake and juice.  There's always cake and juice on the last day of preschool!!  I can't believe that my baby is already done with his first year of school!!

Aoife's 1st Grade Performance

 Aoife and the rest of the 1st grade had their end of year performance today and it was fantastic!!  Each class got to sing a song while another class danced on stage - so each class got to sing one song and perform one song.  Afterwards they all sang together and did an amazing job!  They made all of the costumes and props in art class - so much fun!!!!

Emmy's End of Second Grade Party

I always forget how busy the last few weeks of school are!!  Between the end of sports, dance, each class having a party, concerts etc it seems like there is something to do everyday!!!  Today was the second grade end oy year party. Declan and I went - which probably turned out to not be the greatest idea but was fine in the end. The sprinkles on the table were a great distraction and source of consternation on Declan's part but once we went into the cafeteria to play with the parachute, all was forgotten - plus he got to have icecream once we got back!
