A Rainy 4th of July

It was the RAINIEST 4th of July ever today!  We went to our neighborhood parade in the POURING rain and tried to enjoy ourselves while being cold and wet.  Everyone stuck it out for about 30 minutes until the rain really intensified and everyone made the simultaneous decision to pack it in!  The kids did get some snacks and even tossed water balloons - why not?  They were soaked already!! After the parade, we dried off and went to Tysons to watch a movie and then played in the play area while Brendan took Aoife to the American Girl Doll store - she has decided that it is her life goal to own one of these dolls - they got some flip flops.  We made pizzas for dinner and ate inside downstairs - I would have preferred to eat outside but the intermittent downpours were making things a bit unpredictable!! We didn't even go to fireworks - the rain just threw a monkey wrench in everything but the kids did light sparklers for a while and that seemed to make them happy and top off quite a rainy day!!

 

Disney Day 4 - Declan's Birthday at Epcot

 After breakfast at Ohana, we headed over to Epcot on the Monorail.  We did a few rides like Spaceship Earth and the Imagination ride before we went over to the countries.  We had reservations for lunch at Mexico but we canceled them because no one was hungry and we just didn't have the time to sit in another restaurant for two hours!  We did the ride in Mexico and the ride in Norway and when we came out it was POURING rain.  Brendan had been clever and packed disposable ponchos in our bag but even so we were soaked!! 

We managed to make our way over to America and into the covered area to do some crafts while we waited for Mimi, Big Dan and Bob Meyer to make their way through the rain to us!  They made it, as soaked as we were, and everyone but Declan and I went in and watched the American presentation.  Declan fell asleep in the stroller and I got to have a cup of tea and warm up!  Who would have thought that I would have been cold at Disney in September!!

After they came out of the show, we went over to Germany to see if we could get into our dinner reservation early.  We waited a few minutes and they got us right in.  It was so much fun - good food, fun atmosphere and fun music!  A German band played and the kids danced - it was a lot of fun!  It was a great way to finish up Declan's birthday!!!!

Happy 4th of July!

The 4th of July this year was a bust!  It was pouring rain all day.  We took this picture in the drizzle between thunderstorms.  YUCK!  We were planning on having a BBQ but canceled.  My friend Mel and her son and sister came over.  It was fun to see them but it would have been more fun outside in the sun!!!!
