2019 Holiday Concert

Aoife and the rest of the 5th grade performed in the Holiday Concert at Jamestown today! Aoife was a dreidel!  She was hilarious and nearly fell over after spinning down the aisles!

Jamestown Open House

Today Aoife and Declan got to meet their teachers at the open house at school and Aoife worked at the Lemonade Stand fundraiser. Declan is in 1st grade this year and has Mrs. K and Aoife has the same teacher that Emmy had for 5th grade! She is also in class with one of her very good friends - so that makes this year already twice as good as last year!  So far things look great! Off to a good start!

Jamestown Fieldtrip

 Today I went with Aoife's class as a chaperone on their field trip to Jamestown. It's a JES tradition that the 4th graders get to go on this really fun day-long field trip. Usually the weather is great (and it was when I went with Emmy's class) but today it SNOWED in the morning. Arlington did not delay school - which was good for us but bad for anyone trying to get to school. It snowed about an hour of the bus trip and then we broke into the rain which was much better to drive in! We spent the day in the rain and cold at Jamestown but we still had a lot of fun and learned lots!  I hope that we can get back down there in the summer - it really is a fun place to visit!!

Jamestown Open House

 Today we got to meet Aoife's 4th grade teacher and Declan's Kindergarten teachers for this year!  I love taking pictures of them at the open house and then again at the end of the year. It's fun to see how much they grow!

Smithsonian Migratory Bird Project

 Today the Smithsonian came to Jamestown to teach the kids more about the migratory birds that they have been studying all year.  They even set up some nets to try to catch some song birds - we didn't see any but they had caught some birds earlier in the day.

Jamestown Field Trip

Today I got to go with Emmy's grade to the Jamestown settlement!  We had so much fun and it was a beautiful day.  We had to get up super early to leave on the bus at 6am but it was worth it.  We had a fantastic tour guide who really brought everything to life!  The Smithsonian was there working on an excavation of the settlement which was amazing!  Usually the pits are covered but we got to see what the basements of the buildings looked like - truly incredible!  

Jamestown Open House

 Emmy and Aoife got to meet their teachers and see their new classrooms at their new school today!  They were sooooooo happy!!!  Now we have to wait until Tuesday for the first day!!
