Monticello

I have been wanting to go to Monticello for years and we finally made it down to Charlottesville today. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time with our neighbors. We stayed longer than we thought we would and ate dinner at a great place in downtown Charlottesville.  We even got to see the UVA women's lacrosse team play Boston College where we ran into some of Emmy's Pride teammates!

It was a great day!

Mt. Vernon Spring Break

We didn't go anywhere for Spring Break this year and decided to get to the local sites that we never have a chance to see during the school year. We brought the neighbors kids with us and had a super time - although people thought that I had 6 kids and everyone was giving us crazy looks!

Boston Children's Museum

 What's a vacation without a stomach virus???  After our drive up and a big day on Sunday, we decided to rest on Monday and then go into the city on tuesday to visit the Children's Museum.  On Tuesday morning around 6:30 Declan work up throwing up.  He only got sick once and seemed fine, so we went to the museum anyway.  Aidan ended up throwing up about 10 minutes after we got to the museum (in the bathroom thank goodness!!) and then sat with Mimi in the cafe for the last 45 minutes of our visit.  Emmy, Aoife and Declan had a great time but Emmy ended up getting sick the next day along with Aoife.  I ended up getting it on Thursday afternoon and then Brendan got it that night.  We had planned on leaving to go back to VA on Friday morning but we ended up leaving around noon and driving halfway and then arriving home on Saturday.  It was not the most restful vacation!

Spring Break

 Last week was Spring Break for the kids so we took the opportunity to drive up to Virginia.  We visited my parents who are working on my grandparents' house so we can move in in a few months.  It is looking good!  We also were able to visit with some friends and see the kids' new school.  We took a tour with the principal and it was fantastic!  I am so excited for them - what a great opportunity to go to such a great school!! 
After a few days in VA, we drove down to Great Wolf Lodge - with a stop at IKEA.  We stayed for 2 days and then headed back home.  It was the first time that we have ever gotten back from a vacation and had a weekend to decompress before going back to school/work.  It was really nice!!  We had a lot of fun on our trip but it really made me realize how soon our move really is!  I feel like we have so much to do between now and then!!!
