First Day at Stone Ridge

Today was Emmy's first day at her new school - Stone Ridge! She also had a home field hockey game this afternoon against Churchill - and it was great to get the W on the first day! Can't wait to see her flourish in her new environment!! 

 

Potomac vs. Holy Child

Potomac JV Field Hockey had their first scrimmage against Holy Child today! Aoife played the whole game at midfield and did great! She's definitely not used to playing middie and it was a challenge - especially in the heat and humidity! Looking forward to the rest of the season!!

 

First Day of 5th Grade

 Today was Declan's first day of 5th grade!! It was a bit of a tough summer with the broken arm and I think he is actually happy to go back to school and be busy everyday!! Our neighbor made cherry limeade for the afternoon bus - a first and last day tradition! She is the sweetest! 

Today was also my first morning at home without Aidan. Emmy and I spent the weekend on the road so it hadn't really hit home yet. I know he's having a great time but the house is oddly quiet. I love my Trinity mug and also getting photos via text!! Aidan sent the last photo here of his orientation group at the candlelight ceremony in the Chapel at Trinity. So beautiful!! 

Nike Expo Camp

Emmy attended the Nike Expo Camp in NJ today - it was sooooo hot and it had been a long weekend BUT Emmy was super tough - as always! She played awesome and left it all on the field. Luckily the fields were at a facility where there was an indoor facility so the girls could cool off in the middle of the day and between games. It was a great final camp of the summer!

 

Brown Camp

 Emmy and I drove up to Brown on Saturday so she could go to their prospect day. She had a great time and the campus is absolutely beautiful! She played so well and met a lot of really nice girls. The coaches were awesome too! Afterwards we got back in the car and drove to NJ - lacrosse tomorrow too!

Moving Aidan into Trinity

We moved Aidan into his dorm room this morning - it was a little rainy and cool - and thankfully not super hot! We waited in line to get Aidan's ID and then headed over to his room to set everything up. His roommate is lovely and it seemed like they really hit it off! We left Aidan for the day so he could go to all of the orientation events and then met him back at school to eat dinner together in the dining hall. It was sad leaving that evening but I know that he is going to have the BEST time!

 

Jamestown Open House

On the way up to Trinity, we stopped at Jamestown for a quick visit to Declan's 5th grade open house. He has Mrs. Kalchbrenner - the same teacher from 1st grade which is awesome! We found his locker and Aoife had a great time helping him! Next stop - Trinity!!

Leaving for Connecticut

 This morning we packed up the car after a month of growing the "college corner" in our living room and drove up to Hartford to get Aidan settled at Trinity. We took two cars and all four kids up with us. Everyone wanted to be a part of the move in. We got up to Hartford in the evening - it was a long drive - we had BBQ for dinner and stayed in the same hotel in Hartford that Aidan and I had stayed in when we visited in March. Aidan's roommate had moved in last week so we were able to bring his stuff up to his room the night before move in - which turned out to be a great idea - move in day was rainy and super disorganized! Gramma and Daddy Jim came up to the house for the send off - it's going to be a great year for Aidan!
