The River Farm

I brought the kids to the River Farm on the GW Parkway in Alexandria today.  We hadn't been there since leaving here in 2009 and boy was it different!  Everything has grown up so much and sadly, things weren't in quite as good shape as they were before.  The kids still had a good time despite the heat and the bugs!

More Emmy

Since Aidan won't sit still for more than 7 seconds I only got pictures of Emmy today at the River Farm. Here she is enjoying some Triscuits, strangling a daffodil, and wearing her new hat:

Back to the River Farm

Last week - on the only day that it wasn't raining - we went to the River Farm to see what was blooming. The daffodils were almost past and the tulips weren't quite out yet but it was fun to be there and run around. We couldn't stay long because there is no bathroom and Emmy is still in the beginning stages of being potty trained. She stayed dry and I got a few cute shots - a successful day in my book!

River Farm

We went to George Washington's River Farm yesterday. It is right down the road from us and I never even knew it was there. The American Horticultural Society runs and maintains it and they do a pretty good job - although it is hard to tell in January! The house overlooks the Potomac River and there are pathways that go down to the water - we ran out of steam and didn't make it that far. There is a children's garden with lots of stuff to climb on and play in and a nice grassy area to run around or picnic on. I can't wait until spring when the plants are blooming! The River Farm
Enjoying the grass - it is still green!
Couldn't be much cuter!
