Cactus Cake

My neighbor asked me to make a cake for her son's 12th birthday. They moved from Arizona and he really misses it so his mom asked me to make an Arizona cake. This is what I came up with. I'm pretty happy with it - hopefully I'll be able to make it again and have longer than 24 hours to make it!!!

No way!! Loving this!! Get your butt over here so I can pass off one of YOUR cakes as one of mine for by daughter's 5th birthday. Which is next week. And she wants a 'cheerleader cake with pom poms and a skirt and a mega phone. And you can do that, right mom?' uhm ... totally. YOU, Becky make awesome cakes!! How did you make the cactuses? Cacti? And were the rocks real? I took a course last spring, but we did not get this detailed. I am so jealous!

The rocks, snakes and cacti are all made out of fondant. It comes white from the store and they I colored it with gel foodcoloring - just a tiny amount! I didn't blend the brown in all the way for the rocks so they still have streaks and look more realistic.
