So today did NOT turn out the way that I had anticipated. We got to the field for Aoife's warm ups and Declan was excited to rollerblade on the tennis courts because they are always nice and smooth! Bad weather was coming in but they started Aoife's game anyway - about 10 minutes into the game some players from another team came and got me because Declan had fallen. I decided that he needed to get an X-ray and then the bad weather rolled in and the game was called for lightning. Aoife was able to hang out with Aidan - he had come to the game in his own car - and Brendan and Emmy showed up not long after I left.
Declan and I headed to the closest urgent care but there was a long line so they sent us to another office about 15 minutes away. It was the LONGEST 15 minute drive ever. We got the X-ray and sure enough - it was broken - in fact - both bones in his arm were broken. They put him in a temporary cast above the elbow with instructions to see the orthopedist the next week.
We headed back to the lacrosse field for the end of the last game and then back to the townhouse. Definitely NOT the plan today but we will make the best of it!
